ChatGPT: What’s The Buzz About?

AI tools are an innovation that a few industries dread.

The internet world is abuzz with all these AI-driven platforms, individuals and enterprises try to dip their hands to see how they can leverage on such tools.

In this pool of AI offerings that promises economic benefits, we had the chance to try out ChatGPT and see how it can help (or not) in content writing.

According to Wikipedia, ChatGPT is a chatbot developed by OpenAI in November 2022. This tool received mixed reviews on its performance useability and the eventual disruption of how things are done.

After trying it out for a couple of weeks, here are the top three things that we like about ChatGPT:

Useful for first draft submissions

There are times when we hit a hard wall and no matter how many physical or inspirational activities we do to make our creative and analytical juices flow, ideas just fail to rear its beautiful head. This is where ChatGPT proves its usefulness. After providing basic information like having a casual conversation, the chatbot will just throw a long list of topics that we can write about.

However, we need to keep in mind that it is just the first step. ChatGPT can be helpful in overcoming writer’s block, but it is not a fool-proof approach in producing stunning write ups. If you are a copywriter, it can’t convey the creative spin that you’d want to put in your copy.

Great vocabulary

We are all wordsmiths. However, we also have to admit that there are some words that often escape our memory or words that are being held hostage in our memory banks. ChatGPT suggests words that can be used as an alternative if you have been using “words” frequently in your report.

Challenges our writing skills

While ChatGPT is only a chatbot, it spews suggestions and edits that can make one think if it will be a threat to your industry or not. We would say, take this chatbot’s skills as a challenge. Since this tool is AI-enabled, we need to think outside the box and see how we can upskill that AI cannot emulate.

As the world embraces technology in various ways, we also need to see its advantage and see how we can make it purposeful for us rather than see these tools as a threat to us.
